There’s More To Hog Roast Teddington Than Rustic Buffets!
There’s a version of Hog Roast Teddington that most people picture when they first hear our name. Outdoor cooking, casual atmosphere, food served in rolls with sauce dripping down your hands – relaxed, rustic and absolutely delicious. And yes, that version exists and we do it very well.
But it’s not the only version.
The thing about hog roasts that tends to surprise people is just how adaptable they are. Swap out the paper plates for proper crockery and cutlery, build the right menu around them and suddenly you’re looking at something that wouldn’t feel out of place at a royal banquet – which, historically speaking, is exactly where they used to appear. That heritage isn’t lost on us, and when catering manager Shaun was brought in to design a menu for an elegant garden party, he leaned into it fully.
It began with canapés, and they set the tone immediately. Smoked Scottish salmon, hot chipolata sausages finished with a honey mustard glaze, roasted duck wraps with sweet chilli dip and tomato bruschetta drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar were presented beautifully on bamboo platters and disappeared at a pace that suggested this opening spread had everyone quietly excited about what was coming next.
What came next was the hog – golden, juicy and commanding the kind of attention a centrepiece should. Sage and onion stuffing, applesauce and crackling accompanied it in classic Hog Roast Teddington fashion, while Greek salad, coleslaw, pasta salad and roasted new potatoes gave the spread real depth. Meanwhile, a 50/50 split of sausages and chicken thighs catered for guests who prefer something other than pork and grilled vegetable skewers brought a touch of colour and elegance to the meat-free option that felt entirely in keeping with the occasion.
Then came dessert – because no garden party worth its salt ends without something sweet. Profiteroles, lemon tart and vacherins of strawberries with passion fruit cream; three very different endings, but each one exactly right.
